Flair To Go Out With A Wooooooo

Ric Flair has been a part of the wrestling industry for the better part of 25 years. Soon to turn 59, Flair still laces up his boots and goes out to the ring and can still put on a good match.

However, there is a point in every athlete’s career when they have to hang it up and say, “I can’t do this anymore.”

One of those men is Hulk Hogan. Never was a big Hulkster fan although he was and is still an extremely popular superstar, but he just didn’t know when to hang up his boots.

It was exciting to see him make a comeback with the NWO about four years ago and fight The Rock at Wrestlemania X8.

However Hulk came back again. He came back as Mr.America which was such a joke, he came back to fight Daivari and Hussan with HBK by his side and in the summer of 2005 but we may have finally seen his last match as he faced off against Shawn Michaels at the SummerSlam PPV.

Rumor had it that there was supposed to be a rematch HBK vs. Hogan II, however Hogan’s bum knee wouldn’t let him do it and the next and last time we may see him in a wrestling ring may be tonight at Raw’s 15th anniversary.

Flair like Hogan has kept himself in great shape and there is undoubtedly wrestling that runs through his veins, however, you don’t want to see him go out like Hogan.

Flair should work with the young talent backstage, behind the scenes, be a "GM" or manager, or something if they want to keep him on TV and he wants to remain on TV, but it is time that the “Nature Boy” realizes that he will soon be known as the “Nature Senior Citizen.”

This is not meant to knock Ric Flair. His contributions to the business have been enormous – if they weren’t, they wouldn’t have put the Championship around his waist a record 16 times.

However, if he wants to go down as the kiss stealin, wheelin dealin, limousine ridin, jet flyin, son of a gun, he needs to quit now and help open the door for up and coming superstars.

Recently Flair returned after an absence of several months. The storyline is that Flair was rumored to be announcing his retirement a few weeks ago on RAW.

Instead of retiring, he said that he is never going to retire, so Vince McMahon came out and said Flair can wrestle until he loses.

Rumors have swirled for months now that his last match will come at Wrestlemania 24 in about four months – so expect Flair to go on a nice long winning streak.

Hopefully it is true. While it will be a sad day to see one of the best step foot in the squared circle for the last time as a wrestler, it is also a time for everybody to sit back and think of all his accomplishments over the years.

And just because it is his last official match, never count out the Nature Boy for a few return matches which are always fun to see.

While it shouldn’t be long before we hear the last of the echoes of his infamous knife edge chops, or the last of the screeching of his opponent who is writhing in agony as Flair locks in his figure four leg lock until you hear his opponent tap out - maybe after a low blow or while holding onto the bottom rope for leverage – don’t forget, he is the dirtiest player in the game – Flair’s legacy will live on for years to come.

So, Flair can go down as a legend and not a has been and we will hear him scream to the crowd one last time “Wooooooo” and the crowd will respond back the same way, and not with a “Booooooo.”
