Hardy Comes Out On Top As He And Orton Called Their Own Shots

Last week, Jeff Hardy came out at the top of the show and said that at the Rumble he would take Randy Orton's title. That however was not was on his agenda for the night, saying he would take Orton out before the night was over.

The main even on RAW was Orton vs. Hardy for Hardy's Intercontinental Title. If Orton beat Hardy, he would become only the third Intercontinental Champion and World Champion in WWE history, following in the steps of the legendary Ultimate Warrior and a legend to be as well Orton's past mentor, The Game Triple H.

With just minutes left to RAW, you knew something was going to happen and something was going to happen fast and it was time to set your VHS and DVD Recorders on.

The bell rang and Hardy dashed at Orton and immediately Orton nailed Hardy in the groin with a vicious low blow, using his knee. Orton then took the microphone and had a message for the audience announcing that the show was far from over and saying, "Trust me when I say you don’t want to miss this."

With Hardy writhing in pain, Orton flung Hardy through the ropes to the floor where he exposed the concrete floor by removing protective mats. Orton took Hardy's head in hands and started screaming at Jeff as he prepared to RKO him on the concrete, however, Hardy fought out and they battled up the ramp.

Orton looked to have the upper hand as he threw Hardy face first into the wall at the top of the entrance ramp and stalked Hardy. Hardy was on all fours as he attempted to get back on his feet and Orton charged to punt his head off his shoulders and let Hardy's lifeless body fall from the stage to the floor below, but Hardy got up at the last second and back body dropped Orton off the stage.

Hardy looked down at the damaged and wrecked body of Orton and appeared to look as if he was going to dive off the stage, and maybe perform a Swanton to Orton. Then the daredevil part of Hardy took over as he glanced over and saw he could climb the steel posts outside the staging area and perform a much higher aerial attack. Hardy climbed the steel and looked down yet again at Orton. However, a daredevil like Hardy will take every chance in the book. Hardy realized he could climb up another steel beam, which he did without hesitation. Hardy posed for the crowd, took one more glance at the lifeless Orton and nailed his patented Swanton about 30 feet from the ground, leading to both men being carried off on stretchers.

So, Hardy said he would take out Orton - he obviously came through with his promise. Orton, well, he said the show was far from over and that the fans weren't going to want to miss what was about to happen - and he to came through with his promise. The only difference is that both times Hardy came out on top and Orton on the bottom - literally and figuratively - as when RAW went off the air last week, Hardy lay across Orton's body after the monster Swanton Bomb.
